Income and Social Security
Connecticut's State Supplement program adds a monthly cash payment for people 65 and older whose income does not cover their basic living costs.
The Department of Social Services works out a budget of your allowed expenses and pays the gap, if there is one. It is paid by the state, not in your SSI check, and people who get it also qualify for Medicaid.
Applying is free. Nobody should charge you to apply.
