Utilities and phone
Indiana's Energy Assistance Program (EAP) pays a once-a-year benefit straight to your utility to help with heating and electric bills, and faster help if you are disconnected or about to run out of fuel.
For 2026–27 you can apply from Oct. 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027, online or through the local service provider for your county. Once you apply, a regulated utility can't shut off your service from Dec. 1 through March 15.
Applying is free. Nobody should charge you to apply.
