How Oregon is different

Where Oregon's rules differ from the federal rules for Medicare Savings Programs.

Good to know

  • Oregon lists the poverty-level amounts and subtracts $20 from your gross income first, so the $1,330 QMB limit lines up with the federal $1,350 (and the same for the other limits).
  • Oregon's limits run from March 2026 through February 2027.
  • In Oregon the QI program is called the SMF benefit. Enrollment can close for the year if the state reaches its cap, and you can't get SMF if you qualify for any other Oregon Medicaid benefit.
