Food
Iowa runs SNAP through Iowa HHS as part of its food assistance programs. It puts money on an EBT card each month to help buy groceries.
If your household's gross income is at or under 160% of the poverty level, Iowa doesn't count your savings, and households where every adult is 60 or older or disabled and no one works are approved for 12 months at a time.
Applying is free. Nobody should charge you to apply.
